Employment Transportation

Dane County Department of Human Services offers transportation services to unemployed or low-income individuals seeking employment or who need transportation to get to and from work.

 

Employment Transportation Assistance (ETA)

The ETA program provides bus passes for those searching for employment. ETA is a transit-based fare-assistance program. The service area is Metro Transit boundaries. Individuals must complete a Transportation Intake Form.

General Eligibility:

The ETA program is available to unemployed and low-income persons seeking employment. The Transportation Call Center will review your Transportation Intake Form to determine program eligibility. Individuals enrolled in Long-Term Care through Family Care, Family Care Partnership, and IRIS are not eligible.

Cost:

No cost. Funding for this program is limited.

Rideline Service

The Rideline Service provides scheduled, individual rides to work, job interviews, volunteer opportunities, education, or training. Door-to-door and accessible vehicle service is available. The service area is all of Dane County. This is generally a temporary transportation service. A completed Transportation Intake Form may be requested.

General Eligibility:

The Rideline program is available to rural Dane County residents and those outside of the public transit zone. This includes areas with very limited public transit services. Individuals must live in their own homes and apartments. Access to Rideline is determined by the Dane County Department of Human Services and coordinated through the Transportation Call Center. Individuals enrolled in Long-Term Care through Family Care, Family Care Partnership, and IRIS are not eligible.

Cost:

Passenger co-pay is based on ability to pay. Funding for this program is limited and only rides that are not covered by other funding or ride programs are eligible.

Work-N-Wheels Program

The Work-N-Wheels program provides zero-interest car loans and family financial planning courses to low-income workers. A loan recipient is required to ride-share where possible. This is a revolving loan fund. The service area is typically rural Dane County. View the brochure here.

General Eligibility:

The Work-N-Wheel program is available to rural low-income workers. Loan applications are approved by the Southwest Community Action Work-N-Wheels Program.

YW JobRide Program

The JobRide program provides transportation for low-income people going to/from work.
Transportation is provided to areas that are inaccessible during nonpeak public transportation hours
which include nights, weekends and holidays. The service operates 24 hours a day every day of the year.
General Eligibility: Ride priority and subsidized fare are provided to clients who are at of below 200% of
the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.
